I read it in the car, coming miles home from the grandkids! Made the time pass quickly!
No, I wasn't driving! Can't wait to read more of Justin's story!
See a Problem?
Modern woman with a Regency soul. Above average in most respects, this book centers around the life of a female artist during the Napoleonic era. The heroine is very talented and determined to live independently, perusing her art rather than living a conventional life as a wife and mother. This quickly goes by the wayside when a handsome smuggler comes back into her life.
Touch The Sun
There are serious logical flaws in the plot, but they allow the heroine to stay with the hero so nevermind! There are a few quite explicit sex scenes but they do not dominate the book. Verisimilitude is severely broken by the author's apparent lack of knowledge of the properties of linseed oil and oil paints.
Still, thereIs satisfying growth on the part of both hero and heroine and a pleasant HEA. It was sooooo good to read Cynthia Wright again! How I have missed her beautiful stories and wonderful characters! This book was no exception. I adored Gabriel and Izzy and hated to see the story end. It is always nice to see how Wright weaves previous characters into her stories.
In this case, mostly Sebastian and Julia. I liked that Gabriel and Izzy didn't have a huge misunderstanding even though Izzy kept a very important secret from him. I would have liked just a little more at the end. Maybe a little more detail with Sebastian after she returned home. But still, I certainly can't complain!
The book was beautifully written!
I absolutely can't wait to read about Mouette and Justin! What really enticed me with this Story was Lady Isabella. I Love how she didn't entirely care about her body. Although she felt unworthy of a Man's Love. Reading a Cynthia Wright historic novel is like transcending oneself into another world.
Her research is meticulous, and the way she develops and weaves her stories is gripping for the reader. My attention is always totally consumed. Although these are standalone stories, the reader meets and enjoys visiting with characters from other books in the series' Cynthia writes. It's like visiting with old friends and catching up on their families, current lifestyles and happenings. I enjoyed meeting this heroine, who over the course of the book shows grit and resourcefulness. As the story progresses she successfully advocates for herself and her loved ones. I also liked how the author portrays most of the characters in a realistic manner.
